Each member of my practice has at least a PhD; we have therefore supposed in the past, perhaps out of the well-known arrogance common to doctors, that we knew about everything. As a result, I can’t count the number of sleepless nights that I used to have worrying about my tax returns and on the receipt of different letters from HMRC, in the UK and previously in Europe. I am now 70 years old this year and the young generation pushed me to find an accountant; I hate them like I hate the bank or HMRC because I work so hard for the money I earn. But I was so fed up that one day I took my walking stick and visited some different accountants in the area. Accompanied by my business partner Oliver, I met Kishore; we didn’t talk about figures but about our business philosophy; he asked questions about our family and talked about his family; in fact, we met a real person, a great man; I still don’t like it when he asks for our money, but there is something priceless that he has brought us: now I don’t lose a single night’s sleep to worries about my tax affairs or accounts.
